June 2025 -BOOKS- I have been busy reading this month and the choices did not disappoint!

🔍 The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh

Rating: ★★★★☆
Genre: Mystery / Thriller

Review:
The Last Party is everything a solid whodunnit should be—gripping, layered, and packed with compelling suspects. Set in a small, picturesque lakeside town on the Welsh-English border, the story begins with a shocking murder and unfolds through dual timelines and perspectives, including that of DC Ffion Morgan, a no-nonsense and deeply human detective.

What I enjoyed most was how every single character felt like a viable suspect. Each had a motive, a secret, or a score to settle, and the way their lives intertwined created a truly immersive web of tension. The slow reveal of backstories and the emotional stakes kept me hooked from start to finish.

This wasn’t just a mystery—it was a smart, character-driven narrative with great pacing and plenty of surprises. If you’re a fan of clever plots and messy secrets, this one’s worth adding to your TBR list.

🫀 Anatomy: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz

Rating: ★★★★☆
Genre: Historical Fiction / Gothic Romance / YA

Review:
Set in 19th-century Edinburgh, Anatomy tells the story of Hazel Sinnett, a noblewoman determined to become a surgeon in a time when women weren’t even allowed in medical lectures. Hazel’s ambition, intelligence, and fierce determination are the beating heart of this story.

What made this book so compelling was the blend of gothic atmosphere and feminist grit. You really feel the weight of Hazel’s struggle as she tries to navigate societal expectations, access education, and gain medical knowledge—all while risking her reputation and safety.

It’s not just about surgery or anatomy though—there’s a tender, subtle love story that grows between Hazel and Jack, a resurrection man. Their dynamic adds softness and emotional pull to the darker, more clinical aspects of the plot.

The book feels like a breath of fresh air in the historical fiction space. Moody, smart, and full of tension—perfect for fans of gothic vibes and strong female leads.

⚗️ Immortality: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz

Rating: ★★★★☆
Genre: Historical Fantasy / Romantic Gothic / YA

Review:
Picking up after Anatomy, Immortality continues Hazel’s journey as she enters into even more dangerous territory—this time under the watchful eye of the Royal Society of Surgeons. The stakes are higher, the challenges more complex, and the moral questions much deeper.

What I loved here was how Hazel’s character continues to evolve. She’s no longer just fighting for a place in medicine—she’s also grappling with power, mortality, and loyalty. The romance, still present, is beautifully interwoven but doesn’t overshadow the central themes of identity and ambition.

Schwartz does a great job of blending science with a hint of the supernatural, all while staying grounded in Hazel’s deeply personal struggle as a woman pushing against impossible odds. The writing is elegant, the plot is more refined than the first book, and the ending leaves you feeling both satisfied and reflective.

May 2025 Book of the Month:

Just finished Summer of ’69 by Elin Hilderbrand — and wow, what a read! ☀️📚

This book took me straight to Nantucket during one of the most unforgettable summers in history. It follows a family of women, each dealing with their own struggles, set against the backdrop of the moon landing, Vietnam War, and all the change happening in 1969.

It’s emotional, nostalgic, and full of heart — like the perfect mix of family drama and historical fiction. I felt totally pulled into their world and didn’t want to put it down.

If you’re into stories that blend real-life history with relatable characters and a strong summer vibe, you’ll love this one!

🌟 4.5/5 — Definitely worth adding to your summer reading list!
